Understanding the Profile Page in Our Application

Welcome! In this guide, we’ll walk you through the Profile Page in our application. A key step when uploading products from Shopify to eBay.

When Is a Profile Created?

A profile is created during the product upload process from Shopify to eBay. It contains all the essential information required to publish your product on eBay, including policies, categories, and settings.

Existing Profiles

  • If you have previously uploaded similar products (e.g., t-shirts), you can select an existing profile.
  • This saves time, as previously selected categories and policies will auto-fill.
  • If you are uploading a different product type, it’s better to create a new profile.

Business Policies

Business policies include:**

  1. Shipping Policy
  2. Payment Policy
  3. Return Policy

  • These are created within your eBay account and synced into our app when you first connect eBay.
  • If you create or update policies in eBay after connecting, click the "Fetch Business Policies from eBay" button to refresh them in our app.
  • To learn more about each policy, click the info ("i") icon next to the field.

eBay Category Selection

Selecting the correct category is crucial. For example:

  • If you are selling a t-shirt, choose the relevant "Clothing > T-Shirts" category.
  • If you select an incorrect category (e.g., jackets), your product won't appear in relevant buyer searches.

Search the category using keywords. All categories shown are fetched directly from eBay.

Condition & Attribute Mapping

  • After selecting a category, you will be prompted to select a product condition (e.g., New with Tags).
  • Based on the category, eBay requires specific attributes (e.g., brand, size, color). These are not set by us, they come directly from eBay.

You can map attribute values in several ways:

  • Shopify Attributes (e.g., Title, Vendor, Product Type, Tags)
  • Shopify Metafields
  • eBay Suggested Values
  • Manual Entry

⚠️ Make sure the Shopify attribute/Metafields you map has a valid value. If it’s empty (e.g., product type is blank), eBay will return an error during upload.

Inventory Settings

eBay often has monthly selling limits. You can override the Shopify inventory when uploading to eBay:

  • For example, if your Shopify product has a stock of 1,000 but you only want to show 10 on eBay, enable the Custom Inventory Setting and set it to 10.

How it works:

  • eBay will always show 10 available until your Shopify stock falls below 10.
  • If your Shopify product is not tracked or marked as continue selling when out of stock, this custom inventory will still apply.

Note: This custom inventory will override global inventory settings.

Additional Settings

VAT Percentage:

  1. You can apply a VAT % to your eBay item when upload from Shopify.

  1. This won't change the displayed price but will be shown as a separate VAT line at checkout.

Price Settings:

  1. Increase or decrease the price by a fixed amount or percentage. Example: Add 10% to the Shopify price before listing on eBay.

Title Settings:

  1. Add prefix or suffix to the product title.

  1. Enable auto-truncate if the title exceeds eBay's character limit of 80.

Shopify to eBay Sync Settings

These sync settings allow automatic updates from Shopify to eBay:

Example:

  • If you change a product's price in Shopify, and the sync is enabled, the new price will auto-update on eBay.
  • Disable the switch if you prefer to manage updates manually.

Item Location

eBay requires accurate item location for listing compliance.

  • If you're drop-shipping from a country different than your eBay account's selling region, set the correct shipping origin (e.g., China).
  • eBay will throw an error if the item location and shipping policy region don’t match.

Profile Name

  • The profile name is for your reference only.
  • Use a meaningful name like "T-shirt Profile", "Pants Profile", etc.
  • This makes it easy to reuse or find specific profiles in the future.

Important Note:

Once you’ve filled out all required fields, click Proceed to Upload.

  • If everything is correct, the product will be uploaded to eBay.
  • If any required fields are missing or incorrect, you'll see an error message highlighting the issue.
