Country-Specific VAT Configuration - eBay Integration DPL

The Country-Specific VAT feature allows you to define different VAT percentages for specific countries when syncing orders from eBay to Shopify.

Important Note: The eBay API does not include VAT details in eBay orders. Because of this limitation, the app allows merchants to manually configure VAT percentages so that the correct VAT is applied in eBay Orders and synced to Shopify.

Where to Configure VAT Settings?

  1. Go to Settings in the app:

  1. Under Order & Inventory Sync settings, if you scroll down a bit you will find the Tax Settings:

How Country-Specific VAT Works?

  1. While syncing your eBay Order to Shopify:

  • The app checks the customer’s shipping country. If a country-specific VAT percentage is configured, that VAT is applied and that VAT is then synced with the eBay order to Shopify.

  • Result: If an order is placed with a shipping address in the UK and the VAT is set to 13%, the app will apply 13% VAT to all the eBay orders which are coming from UK and sync it to Shopify.

Adding Multiple Countries:

  • You can configure VAT percentages for multiple countries. VAT will be applied automatically based on the buyer’s country.

  1. If Country Specific VAT percentage is not setup:

  • Then at first our app will check if the Default VAT percentage is setup in our applicaiton. If default VAT is setup, then our will take that VAT percentage and sync with eBay order to Shopify.

  • If default VAT is also not setup, then when eBay Order is sync to the Shopify, that order will not include any VAT percentage.

Summary

  • eBay does not provide VAT details via API.
  • VAT must be configured manually in the app.
  • Country-specific VAT rules take priority.
  • Multiple countries are supported.
  • Removing all country rules reverts to the default VAT.
